CMK READS : PROTIPS, REFRESHMENT FOR THE RACE by MALOI SALUMBIDES

This is one of the books I have purchased from the recent MIBF Book Fair (HERE). I've always heard of Ate Maloi as she's one of the main stay at DZAS. Her mahinhin voice is so distinct along with her tips commonly known as PROTIPS (or positive tips).

PROTIPS books are known to boost one's encouragement and productivity at work. It aims to kindle the fire on your career life. It has a series and this is one of those. Book retails at Php 220 on all major bookstores. Here are my 3 favorite chunks from the book:

LEARN TO LAUGH
Most, if not all, companies have good and challenging times. What do you do when the going gets tough? She suggest to have a few good laugh. Learn from your mistakes and realize that you are too blessed to be stressed. Give yourself some breathing space. Inhale, get a good cup of coffee and maybe watch a laughable video, if you can. For all you know, these simple things are your only ticket towards sanity.

MULTI VS. MONO-TASKING
Now, this is an interesting topic. Emerging studies conclude that there's no such thing as multi-tasking. That the brain can use its fullest potential one action item at a time. Being burdened with so much to-do's at once is a sure-fire way to be burned out. There's so much to do but it's our duty to know which are important and which are urgent. More on Tyranny of the Urgent, HERE. Everyone has 24 hours a day, it's up to us whether to use it productively while being happy and sane outside our office building.

LET IT OUT, CRY OUT
Commonly mistaken as the opposite of LEARN TO LAUGH portion, I think this piece just gives a balance between teaching oneself to laugh while recognizing when to process one's emotions. We live in a world where crying is conceived to be a weakness, but even Jesus wept, didn't he? There are days when everything is just too heavy to bear, and what a good time to give all these burdens to the ONE who loves us the most. I suddenly call to mind this specific literature on WHY ONE SHOULD PRAY?

THOUGHTS:
I like that the book is broken into bite-sized pieces. And that it is written into a relaxed Tagalog English mode. Refreshing is indeed the best way to describe this. If you are looking for an inspirational, simple yet meaty literature - this is a perfect fit.

Allow me to write what my professor has shared one Saturday morning:
The quality of life you will have is directly proportional
to the quality of books you have read.

Not an absolute truth but surely, there's a massive point in there! What are the books you've been reading lately? -CMK
