Take Part in the Selfie Trial
The first thing that you need to do is take part in the selfie trial. Grab your phone and go to some of the main landmarks in the area. When you do, you can then snap a photo and compile them all together. There is actually an interactive map that can guide you and when you follow it you will soon find that you have a great route that will help you to take even better photos. You can also share your own version of the trial with your friends as well. This will help you to have the best possible experience and it can also help you to make something really special. *This is a partnership post.

Ghost Hunt
The City of York is often said to be the most haunted city in Britain. This is especially the case when you look at the Ghost Research Foundation. It’s said to be so spooky that even popular TV shows such as Most Haunted broadcasted an investigation there. In this day and age, there are plenty of ghost tours in the city so you will never have to worry about not being able to take part in them. This is just one of many York events which are often hosted in the area.

Go Back in Time
Another thing that you can do when you go to York is simply try and go back in time. York is lined with stunning streets and a lot of them are cobblestoned. They are well and truly preserved and some of them are believed to be the oldest streets in the UK. Some of them date back all the way to the 14th century and 15th century. In this day and age, Shambles is often recognised as being the main source of inspiration for Diagon Alley in the famous books Harry Potter. You really can’t help but feel as though you are being transported right back in time. Today, Shambles is a fun place to visit with so many places scattered throughout the streets.

Roman History
When you visit York, you will soon find that you can completely immerse yourself in Roman history. Constantine the Great was actually the only emperor ever to have been crowned outside Rome. If you want to find out more about this then you can see the statue of him right next to the York Minster.

Guy Fawkes
Not a lot of people know this, but Guy Fawkes, who planned to blow up Parliament was born in York. The building is not too far away from York Minster and it’s been converted into a pub. It’s now known as being the Guy Fawkes Inn and if you want to learn more about the story then you’ll need to take a look at the plaques that are just outside the pub.

Learn About the Lightning Strikes
When you look back at the year 1984, you will see that there was a lightning strike which struck the York Minster. This caused a huge amount of damage to the South Rose Window and the rooftop. Four years later, the restoration was finally completed, and you can visit it today.
