A/W 2019 CAPSULE WARDROBE : COATS

I got curious on what is the official meaning of a capsule wardrobe. As always, Google / Wikipedia came to the rescue. Capsule wardrobe - the term is widely used in the British and American fashion media, and has been the subject of several popular television series. The term has come to refer to a collection of clothing that is composed of interchangeable items only, to maximise the number of outfits that can be created. The aim is to have an outfit suitable for any occasion without owning excessive items of clothing. This is usually achieved by buying what are considered to be "key" or "staple" items in coordinating colours.

A typical capsule wardrobe has 35 items that covers everything (including shoes). I am not entirely sure if I fit into this category, all I know is I want to have a set of wearable clothes each season. I usually do one for spring/summer and another for autumn/winter. I'm happy to report that my red coat from Zara is celebrating its third year under my care! Picture above was from last year, taken at the Battersea park. Here are my coats for A/W 2019:

1. Leather jacket from All Saints.
2. Intense red masculine coat from Zara.
3. Old rose wool wrap coat from Ted Baker.
4. Gray seamless down coat from Uniqlo.
5. Camel lapel blazer from Zara.
6. Tie waist trench from Coach.

I've linked in some similar items if you're interested. I don't have any affiliate links, I just did it to make it easier for you to check the price points. Note that I got most of my items on sale because your girl is not ready to pay for these items in full price. I purchased the Ted Baker coat from last year's boxing day sale. Leather jacket from All Saints and trench from Coach are from Bicester Village (an outlet shopping centre on the outskirts of Bicester, a town in Oxfordshire, England). I've always liked the idea of owning a capsule wardrobe. Personally, I find myself being intentional when I buy an item. I have to like-like it not just okay-like it, if you get my drift? Having few, quality items that I can mix and match without worrying if I look tacky is definitely a game changer for me. -CMK
