How To Fund a Digital Nomad Lifestyle

Being able to travel the world and earn money as you do so can be the dream for many people. Instead of having to quit a job and sell a home to fund a round-the-world trip, you could get the same experience but pay for yourself as you go. Becoming a digital nomad is something that isn’t easy, but if you’re determined to make it work, then it is definitely something that you could do. Believe it or not, though, you don’t need to start your own business to become a digital nomad.

There are some skills and experience that can really help, and being able to work freelance before you go can be a great way to have the confidence to know what you’ll be able to fund your travels. In the way that the world of work is going, you may still be able to keep a regular job that you have but just do it by working remotely all of the time. The pandemic has shown that for many industries this is very possible, although you might need to check with an employer that they’d be happy for you to be in some different time zones!

So with all of that in mind, here are some of the things that you can do to become a digital nomad. It won’t happen overnight, but some steps in the right direction will help you to get there.

Become a freelancer

Alongside a career that you might already have, take steps to become a freelancer. This can be gradual as you build up a portfolio and a client base, but can be worth it if travel and working for yourself is the end goal. For example, if you work as an accountant by day, could you take on some of your own clients freelance? You don’t have to think too far out of the box with freelance work, unless you want to do something completely different.

Look for ways to make money online

Although this may not be a way to fund your travel and accommodation expenses all the time, being able to make money online can be a good backup. You could earn some spending money from doing this, or if things go well, make a full income from it. This could be anything from betting on sports using a site like https://sportnews.in/Football, to starting a blog, completing surveys, or earning money through online jobs like copywriting. See what is out there and what could work for you.

Look to study online

If you would like to have a little less pressure on you to work when you’re on your travels, then you could think about studying for a degree that is completely online as you travel, much like these degrees: https://onlineu.com/degrees. In many cases, you’d be able to get student funding, grants, or loans for this, and you might find it easier to watch lectures online and complete assignments on your travels, compared to working a job and meeting the needs of your clients.
