AVON SKIN SO SOFT (SSS) GLUTATHIONE LOTION REVIEW

Fair. Smooth. Silky.
You know how dry our hands feel after washing? There's this rough sensation after frequent washes due to toothbrush, comfort room after-care, or just barely spritzing alcohol on our hands. Not to mention how cracked our ankles and elbows are specially on our Manila's scorching heat! Nobody's complaining. ☺ Just making a point. Smiley again ☺

Dryness is being equated with wrinkles. And while we accept the fact that wrinkles is part of human aging, we want to delay it as much as possible!

Due to the scenarios above, we need to find a weapon! And a beautiful, whitening weapon we have here! Unveil the curtain and let's see how AVON SKIN SO SOFT (SSS) GLUTATHIONE LOTION will save us on our summery days.

A handy lotion is just right to fit into my kikay kit. Good  thing a 50 ml bottle is available. Perfect for everyday use and of course, one thing I love doing over and over. Eating? NO! Traveling. YES! ☺.

DETAILS:
Got it from SALADBOX (click HERE)
Regular Price: 2 x 50ml samples at PHP140;
Full size bottle at 250ml/PHP350
Check out their introductory price below:

CMK HAPPY THOUGHTS:
☺Loaded with moisture. The moment you lavished it on your skin,
you can sense the silky and smooth effect. If you're not convinced,
try slathering some on one hand and compare it on your other hand.

☺Staying power. Like make-ups, lotions have staying power too!
Avon's SSS stood the test of time (literally).

☺Lightweight. I've made it clear on my post HERE
that I'm never a fan of heavy creams. In my book, light is right! ☺

SCRIBBLED NOTES #9: OF GOODBYES AND MISS YOU'S

Charlie's Angels Forever!

I vividly recall the first goodbye I've had in my entire life. It was when my mom needed to go abroad. I am chubby (even then) and I am wearing a white sando. Mommy's caressing my short hair and fat arms. Her eyes were swollen. I cupped her face in my hands and asked "Mommy, bakit ka umiiyak?" Instead of an answer I saw more tears. 3 hours after that conversation, I got the answer. Mom flew in a foreign land. I kept on shouting "Mommy asan ka na ba kasi?!" in our house, but there was no answer. For 2 straight years.

From that moment on, I knew it.
Goodbyes are difficult.

My alter ego is inclined to mimic the guy in 500 days of summer. That he doesn't want to get attached to anyone because everybody's bound to leave, one way or another. I am not here to say what's right or wrong. It's all your call. For me, a conscious awareness should always be there such that if you want to fight or treat someone badly, you will remember that someday, you will bid goodbye. So better yet to maximize happiness and minimize pain.

I got a news just recently and as much as I want to be strong and instantly shout "I'm happy for you! That is life and I wish you well."... I just CAN'T. Instead I felt a lump on my throat and three books thrown upon my chest. I am not good in goodbyes. But I'll try. To you my friend (you know who you are), this is half meant but at least I tried:

I am happy for you.
I wish you well.
You will surely be missed.
You know that we'll always be here for you.

To make things lighter, I can very well relate to this quote.
Thank you for making fun of me {in a good way}!

We'll keep in touch. MANDATORY. Hahaha! -CMK

CMK TRAVELS : TOP THINGS TO DO IN BANGKOK, THAILAND (PART 2)

Still in line with our Bangkok Adventure, here's the PART 2! I suggest that you take a peek of the PART 1 by clicking HERE. I love traveling! Likewise I love blogging about my travel destinations. One comment that I got came from a friend, she shared that she loves my blog specially my travel posts because it contains the whole information she needs like places, rates and tips. Simple comments like these mean sooo much to me. It inspires me to collate my pictures, put them into collage, lay it out on a blog post, enter the whole text then proof read it. Not that easy, huh? I agree.

Travel posts are one of the posts that take some time to publish due to reasons stated above. I guess that's where PASSION comes into play. When you love doing something, it doesn't feel heavy.

Picture on the left was taken on one of their famous parks. This was where we watched an elephant and crocodile show. Very informative and fun!

Satisfy your food craving

I once thought that I'd enjoy Bangkok mainly because of shopping. Wrong. It's a gastronomical haven! Strawberries and barbequed chicken above was taken at Chatuchak Weekend Market. Mom and I went there as early as 10 am! Milk tea station and Pad Thai store were taken at the Platinum Mall. One of their famous malls in the city. It was only then that I appreciate Thai Milk Tea. I loved it! I could stay here for a day and eat all I want. Also, food prices in Bangkok are less costly than here in Manila. Say, their Pad Thai costs about 75 Baht (that translates to only 90 Php, but the servings are more than usual).

Shop your heart out

This is the main reason why I want to set my foot at Bangkok. To my surprise, their average sizes for females are small to medium sizes! Gawk. Hello to my plump size. Story of my life, I sighed. Not giving up, we rummaged 3 places (Shibuya 19, Platinum and Chatuchak) in search of realistic sizes. Haha! Thank heavens we found what we're looking for. Picture above was with the lovely sales people from the sea of dress shops at Platinum Mall. These Bangkok Gold bracelets caught my eye and found myself buying a few. Bracelets were from Shibuya 19 Mall (click HERE).

♣ Tip: It's best to walk to and fro malls instead of taking tuktuks. Set aside an afternoon (so it's less hot) to do your shopping session. To maximize bargains, take advantage of their buy 1 take 1 and other promos. Finally, don't forget to compare prizes before shelling out your money. As with all travel destinations, they tend to UP the prize when tourists are buying.

Discover a cool coffee place

I love coffee then. I love coffee now. I think it's one of the love affairs I'll never get tired of. Low maintenance. Always there to perk me up. Always cool and chilling. No undercover statement (swear!). Just a play with words. Moving on, in the midst of ghastly heat at Bangkok Floating Market port (place is called Damnoen Saduak) I shrieked when I saw this coffee shop! Clap clap indeed!

My eyes lit up on their minimalist arrangement. And THEIR CAFE MOCHA is amazing! It has the right bitter sweet (not overpowering) medley. If only we were going back in the hotel after this trip, I might order another round. I tend to poops when I got a cafe overdose. Overall, the place is nice and cozy. Not air conditioned but windy enough. Their coffee left a mark on my palate.

Meet a familiar face

While shopping at the Floating Market port, mom noticed Ms. Kara David and her daughter, Julia. Julia was celebrating her 13th birthday, hence the trip. Ms. Kara was very nice and approachable. I literally had to make face to mom because she's carrying out a convo with Ms. Kara for a time that's longer than usual. All's well that ends well. If you'll notice, Haggardo Versoza ang peg ko dito. Ang INIT! I suddenly miss PH and whenever I'm about to get grumpy due to summer heat, I'll just recall how blessed we are with so many things.

CMK EATS : KABUKICHO >> A POP UP EVENT BY YABU

I've been invited at YABU's Private Tasting Event a couple of weeks back.
I got an e-mail from the YABU team and instantly got curious
what does KABUKICHO mean! It's a gangsterish place.
A red light district Google adds. Hmm...
Since I am living somewhere south, the venue,
SM Southmall is relatively near my place. So PUSH!

The rest of this post is a gastronomical feast to the eyes!
I've heard that not all of these yummies will be served as a
part of their regular menu just yet, but who knows?
Give it a month or two - this will probably grace YABU's delectable menu.

First, the appetizers. I particularly love the texture of their maki.
Sticky rice is not overcooked. Proportion? Just right.

Then there's a MINI YABU SPECIAL that is not mini to the tummy after all!
It is so FULL-filling, I tell you! Package below consists of shrimp, fish and squid.
I can't recall if there's an oyster (talaba) though theirs are safe and yummy.
You can revisit my latest YABU review HERE.
I don't eat anything with mayonnaise but this is a crazy exemption.
There's something about their dressing and I don't feel it's mayo after all.

Afterwards, they served their version of mini-shrimp burger.
My favorite part of the burger is the 'crunch'.
I'm not a chef (but I love eating!) and being an
elementary on culinary stuff, getting the perfect
crunch will remain a mystery to me.

Kushi Menchi Katsu. There goes the crowd's favorite.
It's a ground pork with cheese on every bite.
I personally liked the shrimp burger better but
I heard all the oohs and aahs from the visitors when
they took a bite of this entry. With this alone? You're already solved!

Now, let's get to YABU's special drinks for the night!
The 2nd from the right is what they called KITTY FIZZ,
a mixture of Passion fruit, Cranberry, Ginger syrup,
Shochu and Ale (don't ask me about the last two please HA!)

One that came with a jar-like glass was another crowd favorite.
It's called EDEN'S DEN. It's Mango Juice, Shochu, Yuzu Syrup and Black Tea.
It's my favorite too. Both drinks tastes like there's a
hint of alcohol in them but like the mayo effect,
it doesn't taste like anything overpowering.

The event was hosted (and co-created) by Erwan Heussaff and his team.
I saw lots of models and celebrities too. For one, I got starstruck by Anne Curtis.
There's also Jasmine Curtis, Champ Lui Pio and their close friends and family members.

Oh, in case you haven't already heard,  YABU has just launched an app,
aptly named Katsu Craze! :)  They're currently holding an
iPhone5 giveaway to celebrate this new milestone for Yabu.
To cap all these yummy food pics, feel free to watch the vide below.

Hands down, YABU is such a fine dining Japanese experience.
If you're curious as to what does this mean, go rush to the nearest YABU near you.
I've tried their MOA, Megamall and Southmall branches. -CMK

WHAT'S ON YOUR 2013 SUMMER KIT?

We are midway summer! Highest temperature recorded
here in Manila was 36 degrees or thereabout. With this, I'm jumping on
the bandwagon and let you peek what's in my Summer Survival Kit!
All products are cost-efficient such that they might be costlier than usual
but quality and shelf-life wise, they are definitely good-buys!
You'll notice that most of them have a corresponding blog post review,
I'll be linking them on each description so if you want
to see my detailed review, simply click on the 'Review' link.

1. Nivea Invisible Cooling Mist SPF 50 Spray (REVIEW)
Still loving the mist and the fact that I can spray on hard to reach areas.

2. Australian Vitamin E Skin Repair Cream (REVIEW)

Its velvety texture still amazes me. I can see some
similarities between this and Avon's latest Skin So Soft Glutathione lotion.
Once I tested Avon's SSS, I'll let you know.

3. Clinique Happy Exclusive Perfumes (POST)
One of my best buys from our Bangkok trip last December.
I've always been a fan of Clinique perfumes.
Citrus-y sniffs are must-have this summer.

4. Palladio Foundation Primer (REVIEW)
It being herbal, mid-range and matte made me love it more.

It has a 12-month shelf life and if you're wondering if primers
can make a difference, I suggest you rush into a Beauty Bar store
and ask their pleasant sales lady for a small demo on your face.

There's more!

CMK READS : SIMPLE PRINCIPLES TO EXCEL AT YOUR JOB

If your friend ask you this random question:
"Do you love your job?"
What would be your answer? Or
"Why do you love your job?
I bet that would be an hour long teteatete.

I am a fan of inspirational books but I don't dig so much of How-To books.
I find them too procedural (obviously). That changed when I first opened this
book randomly in a bookstore. Firstly, the PRICE! It's less than Php 100.
For 268 pages with simple chunk bite suggestions, it's definitely a keeper.

That's just the start, flipping through its pages goes beyond inspirational,
for me, it's life changing and it makes me love my job more.
I can't help but to share my post last year called
Happy 1st Job post (click HERE) and yes the love affair is still counting.

DETAILS:
TITLE:  SIMPLE PRINCIPLES TO EXCEL AT YOUR JOB
AUTHOR: Alex A. Lluch
PUBLISHER: WS Publishing Group
PRICE: Php 95.00
BOUGHT AT: National Bookstore, Greenbelt

Here are my Top 5 favorite principles from the book:

"Book about working telling us to take a break? It's contradicting." You might mutter. If we'll look at it closely, I think it makes perfect sense. Too much of something is bad enough. Spice girls holler. There's a truth in it. Little breaks can rejuvenate you. Personally, I feel a different kind of energy when I get back to work even after a one-day leave. Much more energy when I go back to work from traveling!

As short as a coffee cup break or as long as a 4-day out-of-country hiatus, point is you have to STOP for a while to rekindle the fire. Still talking about work here.

When I was a newbie in the corporate world, I dreaded to take the blame. Do you remember your fresh-from-college self when you thought you HAVE to put your best foot forward all the time? It's tiring. Most of all, whether you admit your share of the blame or not, your boss knows it anyway. Like it or not, he or she is there for a reason. And by experience, boss knows a lot about us than what we think they do.

On a personal level, people will be drawn to love you if you let them take the credit and you getting the blame. Just don't forget to be sincere and truthful when doing these things. We don't want to be a door mat or something. However, when taken using a correct context, this tip will let your co-workers love you more.

I know what you're thinking. You don't like this idea either. HA! We're on the same boat, my friend. Not until I put my feet on my boss' shoes. Imagine you're the boss and your subordinate is here, humbly asking you for more responsibility. What will you feel? Is there such a thing as promote-able? This book is just so... clever!

MONEY MATTERS : MERALCO STOCKS ARE CLIMBING UP IN GREAT HEIGHTS

Source: HERE

Each household probably know what MERALCO is. However, since I'm running out of juicy introduction and would like to go straight to the point, allow me to lift some information from their Company Profile: The Manila Electric Company (commonly known as MERALCO) is the largest distribution utility in the Philippines. It serves 25% of the Philippine population.

I'd like to share with you how well MER stocks are doing the past days! I thought I've seen an awesome leap when I saw JFC (stock code for Jollibee) climbed from Php 115 to Php 125, but wait! there's more! Below is a simple graph I've created to show you some trend. Intervals are by 10's and it seems that the differences are not material, but normally, +5 and -5 change is a big chunk for any blue chip stock. Hence the shock of my life! ☺

FEW NOTES:
♣ Conservative estimate of knowledgeable analysts says that
the BUY BELOW PRICE for MER is Php 330.40.
If you're following the rule strictly, this translates as
you should NOT buy any MER stocks until price
per share falls below Php 330.40.

♣ Notice that yesterday, price is about Php 341 and
today price shows Php 361. The BIG QUESTION is:
Can MER sustain this trend in the coming days, or will correction
(lowering of prices) happen any time soon?

♣ Should you buy MER today in the hope that
it will  climb up to great-er heights or
just hold your horses and wait for price slash?

Now, I understand why fees on stock workshops cost
range from Php 3,000 - Php 10,000. This is because a question that is
seemingly answerable by YES or NO is not that easy after all.

LET'S MAKE THINGS SIMPLER:

FOSSIL WATCH : TIME IS WELL... GOLD

What's your take on watches? Is it a necessity? Or just a wanton luxury?
My friends have mixed answers on these questions.
Personally, I'm not head over heels in love with watches
as compared to my crazy compulsion on dresses.

Last watch I bought (believe it or not) was last 2011.
Time when I had the opportunity to visit Prague (click HERE).
After that, I deferred on buying watches though
I always intend to do so. Then came my 20-something birthday,
mom volunteered to buy me one! Who am I to say no? Haha!

I was on the look out for Gold watches.
Some says it's too pang-matanda but to me, it's elegant.
I spotted this specific style and I instantly loved it.
The polished corners and matte finish enticed me.

Tadaan! Here I am with the pleasant Fossil lady ☺
Dress looks familiar? That's because this dress was
posted on my earlier blog post. Check it out HERE.

Will hot pink tutu skirt, bright blue havs and
gold watch blend together? Hmmm...

MONEY MATTERS : MANAGING RISKS WHEN INVESTING IN STOCK MARKET

Only a few handful people wants to talk about risk. It seems like a taboo at some point. "We only live once, we should enjoy life." "Who cares about risks?" "Only old and boring people do that!"

"Just party and make the best out of life" a hippie guy says. "Anyway, what you don't know won't hurt you. Right?"

I guess these cool words are taken out of context when we speak of Financial Literacy. Sorry to burst your bubble but NEWSFLASH! we are taking risks though we are not aware of it. If your Php 100 can get you a burger today, don't expect that this hundred peso can purchase exactly the same burger 5 years from now.

That's a simple illustration of how inflation works. BUT (there's a big BUT). That's only one half of the coin, the other half is WE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Risk is a point of uncertainty. If you are dating / courting a girl, risk is her answer can be YES or NO. If you're applying for a job, risk can be if you're IN or OUT. And the list goes on. Same scenario when we do stock market. Risk is that the market (and therefore your gain or tubo) can be UP or DOWN.

If you know someone who says your investment 100% guaranteed and you can double your money after a specific amount of time, chances are it's a SCAM. Run away! Nobody in his sound mind can warrant your investment 100%. That's NOT how it works. All LEGAL businesses have risks. As a fan of making things simple, here are my:

TOP 3 SUGGESTIONS ON MANAGING RISKS
WHEN INVESTING IN STOCK MARKET:

Diversify your portfolio
Don't put all your eggs in one basket

In stock market, we can buy or sell shares of companies. Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) has about 300 companies to choose from. Since we are investing our hard-earned money, we want to put our funds into companies that were there for the past 20 years and will be there after 20+ years. These companies are also called blue-chip companies. Wikipedia defines it as a common stock of a nationally known company whose value and dividends are reliable. To know of the 2 ways on how to earn in stock market, click HERE.

Let's go straight to the point. What do we mean by diversify? Simply put, if I have shares of Jollibee, Mc Donalds, Burger King - that means I only have shares of food companies. If I invest all my shares into BDO, Metrobank and BPI - then I put all my eggs in a bank basket. What's ideal is your portfolio or basket has a bit of Jollibee (consumer goods), BDO (bank), Ayala Land (real estate) and Meralco (utility).

Why is it? So that if we have some issues for example about banks and it's on downtrend at one season, we're not on a complete loss (lugi) since we also have other other stock types in our basket. Cool. Huh?

Learn
“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty.
Anyone who keeps learning stays young.
The greatest thing in life is to keep your mind young.” ~Henry Ford

As with any other field, learning is a must. You want to be a good singer? Practice. You want to be a good make-up artist? Hone your skills. Same with stock market. You want higher gains from your investments? Do your homework too. It doesn't need to be such a BORE though. We can LEARN by talking to our friends who knows about stock market. You can read blogs like ahem yours truly ☺

Seriously, there are lots of creative ways to know more on what stocks to pick and other basic things. Remember: You DON'T need to KNOW EVERYTHING because that's just impossible. I believe GOD sees our hearts and if HE sees your passion to learn things, He will crown your efforts with success. Learning, like being rich, is not an overnight process. However, we'll get there one step at a time.

CMK EATS : BAG OF BEANS TAGAYTAY 2013

I may never get tired of going to and fro to Tagaytay. Only some few hours away from where I live (somewhere South)... fresh air, good food, lush trees and coffee are just around the corner! It's my go-to place when I am super stress and in dire need of nature-tripping! On this trip, we literally went to Bag of Beans for lunch. After lunch, we went back sniff! Just the same, we enjoyed the lunch so much.

TIP: Shao brought with her a deck of cards called "ICE BREAKER". It's quite common during my high school era though for some reason, I forgot about them. Good thing she tagged that along - we had so much fun!

Some random pictures. I fell in love with the Fuchsia and Lime Green tandem. Very refreshing to the eyes! Ferris Wheel in Tagaytay was still in construction when we passed by. It mimics the MOA Eye though it's being touted as the highest Ferris Wheel in the country. I'd love to try that! Last 2 pics are just eye candies :) Now let's start some food fest!

MAIN COURSE:

1. Fish and Chips (Bag of Beans' Style). Dip the fish on their barbeque sauce for more yum factor. Fries are bland though. We're not happy with the fries considering its price (wow tongue-twister!)

2. Roast Beef. From a scale of 1 - 5 (highest), I'd say 3.5!
I like how thin it is though the sauce could be more tastier.

3. Seafood Carbonara. My favorite amongst the main dish.
It might be a bit oily but its tolerable. I love its freshness factor.

4. Another camwhoring session.

AUSTRALIAN VITAMIN E SKIN REPAIR CREAM REVIEW

Moisture! Moisture! Moisture! - Lots of it. That's what our skin needs to remain healthy and supple despite the heat. They also need to drink liquid in some ways. For a hairy creature like me (creature talaga!), lotion does not appeal me. All the more the oily ones. It just magnifies my hair all over. Worst, I've been told lotions make hair grow faster (is this true?) and I don't like that! Thank heavens mommy is a moisture junkie. She introduced me with a one of a kind lotion. Special thanks to Lyn!

This post though is sorta different. I once thought of not publishing this post for practical reasons but here goes. Firstly, accept my apologies. Why? Because I don't know where to get this same product in the Philippines. Though, trust me ROSKEN SKIN REPAIR (Australian product too) is a good dupe. Rosken is now available on Watsons (since early this year).

DETAILS:
AUSTRALIAN VITAMIN E SKIN REPAIR CREAM
Price: About Php 600 (when converted)
Size: 250 mg

CMK HAPPY THOUGHTS:
☺Light texture. It's not oily and I love it being absorbed by my skin so easily.
☺Faint Smell. It's on the borderline of odorless.
☺Product's Skin Repair attribute entices me. I no longer see
cracked parts of my legs. When I run my fingernails through my legs,
 no more chalk lines whatsoever.
☺Waxed leg friendly. You know how dry your leg feels after waxing?
I apply this lotion 4 hours after the procedure and it does work wonders.

CMK WISHFUL THOUGHTS:
☻Local market availability. Lotions are everywhere. Good skin repair lotions aren't.
I am yet to find an equally nourished pack product here.
Mean time, it would be very nice to have this product on the Philippine market.
☻Smaller size can also be a welcoming treat. Lotion is a travel essential
whether you're bound to a warm or wintery country.

MONEY MATTERS : 2 WAYS TO MAKE MONEY IN THE STOCK MARKET

It's been a while since I posted an entry for Money Matters series so here it is! By the time I am writing this, I was about to give my first mini-talk to a few close friends about basic stock market stuff and personal finance. I pray that things will turn out well. Anyways, that will be more of a coffee table chat. Nothing super formal but nonetheless, I wish I will put across important info and tips that will somehow inspire them to save and eventually, invest!

There's a huge difference between saving and investing and if you haven't seen it yet, here's my separate post concentrating on that topic, click HERE

Moving on, some people think that there's a lot to be learned about stock market. TRUE... That stock market MAY be complicated to some extent... TRUE. That you need to know everything to be able to earn from stock market... FALSE!

You need to be familiar on some basic things on stock market but to know everything BEFORE you can earn? FALSE again. We don't need to know everything about lipsticks and makeups (like its ingredients and its whole manufacturing process) BUT we still enjoy (benefit from) them right?

2 WAYS TO MAKE MONEY IN THE STOCK MARKET

 CAPITAL APPRECIATION
Now, I don't want you to be intimidated by the term. On its simplest form, it just means that you bought Jollibee (JFC) stocks last month at Php 100 per share and today, it's Php 110 per share. This means that for every share you'll have a profit of Php 10.00.  And if you bought 100 shares of JFC, you can have Php 10 x 100 = Php 1,000 profit when you sell it today.

That's it! We buy at low price and we sell at high price. Even the most knowledgeable stock trader works with this formula in mind. That's all there is to it. We'll put in our money for quite some time and when the price is high, we'll sell them. If you'll ask me if this is guaranteed, of course the answer is no.

This is the reason why its best to invest in blue-chip companies (Jollibee, SM, Ayala, Meralco) - the percentage of capital appreciation is 100% for the last 10 years. Case in point, Jollibee's price (per share) last 2010 is Php 47.50 and today, it's price is Php 124.00. This translates to Php 76.50 profit. Beat that! :))
