SHINAGAWA LASIK : JUNE 2012 - 50% OFF PROMO ON LASIK EYE TREATMENT

Yesterday, I got a text message from Shinagawa.
They mentioned that they will be holding an exclusive,
first-come - first served promo this June 2012. Here are some details:

1. The real price of a Lasik (most advanced eye laser procedure) is Php 89,600 (all in).

2. However, they are now launching this 50% promo for students and professionals alike.
3. Get the same lasik procedure for only Php 44,800.

Think that's too much?

1. You seeing clearly is priceless.
2. Wearing contact lenses over prolonged period might lead to cornea damage.
3. Celebrities like Joey of Side A, Janice de Belen, Ariel Rivera opted Shinagawa to
restore their 20/20 vision. I think now is the perfect time that you do!

4. They accept major credit cards and you can avail of their 6-month payment terms.

Further Details?

1. Simple, comment on this post and send me your e-mail address.

2. Or - you can drop me an e-mail using kristineannelicuanan@yahoo.com

Important:

1. This promo is on a first come, first served basis.
2. The deal is solely from Shinagawa PH (Enterprise Center, Makati).

I did undergo the procedure myself and while I can't deny that it's a bit pricey, it's all worth it. Waking up with 20/20 vision - not even all the money in the world can buy that feeling.

BEAUTY ALERT : SHADES OF PINK

SKIN FOOD'S SHADOW BOX AND LIPSTICK
Pinks nowadays are not limited to Barbie.
Pinks are all around. From Fuschia lips of Rhianna to Pale Pinks of Taylor Swift.
We find it girly, wearable and oh so chic!

How to achieve a simple pink look?

* Apply your base (primer, bb cream, your usual regimen).
* For the eyes, I used Skin Food's Sugar Bloom Shadow Box
(in blush pink, golden gray, mocha brown).
U
sed golden gray as a base then topped it off with blush pink.
* Lined a stroke of liquid eyeliner.
* Applied a Baked Shimmer Blusher from The FaceShop (in 02 Coral Aura).
* Since lips is the focal point, I applied Skin Food's Lipstick Chocolate Edition in PK03.

Result? Here are some pics :)

CMK EATS : NEW ZEALAND NATURAL ICE CREAM IS HERE!

I've been thinking of a unique way of celebrating Mom's Day 2012
but I fell short of cool ideas. That was what I thought!
That same night, we agreed to stop by at Robinson's Place Manila
for some right off the hook dinner.
Then I realized that I have some coupons for New Zealand Natural Ice Cream.

Introducing... New Zealand Natural. It's an all dairy fusion of yogurt and ice cream.

I went loco over the array of their flavors. They thought of everything.
From Mocha Fudge to Coffee to Passion Fruit and Sugarless stuffs.
You'll be confused (in a good way, hihi).
CMK's Note : NZN is too kind to share some clarification with me. Here goes:

Aren't they sweet? ♥ I intend to strike through the words rather than delete to drive home a point. To err is human. To forgive is divine. Heheh... Visit their FB page HERE.

I can't get enough of it so much so that I was caught on cam with the
twinkling shut eye mode.
Look up! Up! To the right. To the right. (Ganun sia ka-yummy!)

I got mine in Mocha with Almond flavor. It's tasty and sweetness is just right.
Nothing super extra ordinary honestly, but it's worth a try.
You'll get a hefty scoop for Php 95 or so. But - here's some good news.

Zen (one of my close friends), pinged me and told me there was a deal.

Php 180 for 4 scoops valued at Php 380. Not bad.
Though the deal is closed for now - I hope they'll come up with another batch.
They should know the promo worked with 2,262 coupons sold!
Here it is.

SHINE MOIST CURLY ELASTIC MOUSSE REVIEW

My locks were digi-permed since 2010.
It was first done by none other than Mr. Simon Kim himself.
To our surprise, he passed away last year (revisit my post HERE) sob!

But life's like that. Anyway, that's an appointment that everybody should make.
As my friend taunts "Una, una lang yan" And.....
Before I convert this post to an entirely different subject, let me go back to Shine Moist.

If you'll recall my top picks for digiperm goodies (click HERE),

I'm a loyal user of V05 Mousse,
much to my shock it's no longer available in major malls! (0.o)
Makes me wonder! Sob again!

After walking through the beauty alleys, I noticed this purple goodie here.

Meet my new curl buddy - SHINE MOIST CURLY ELASTIC MOUSSE.
I might say this, when I first saw the slim can, I reckon so hard that this is not the first time I saw this product. Then poof! I remembered!
When I got a hair treatment @ Bench Fix Glorietta, this is their flagship mousse too!

CMK thinks this product is worth every penny.

5 LESSONS LEARNED AT SHU UEMURA'S KISS AND MAKE UP EVENT

Shu Uemura's Event + Friends = Gorgeous Weekend!
We all need reminders even of the things we already know.
And we definitely got a healthy dose of that at Shu Uemura's Kiss and Make Up Event
@ Shangri La Mall. For complete, pretty details, feel free to revisit my post HERE.

Now - on to the lessons:

1 Pick a Theme. 1920's? Minimalist? Summery? It helps to construct your color pallate.

2 Best Makeup to Put On? A good skin. So cleanse, tone and moisturize.
3 Have one focal point. Smokey Eyes? Fuchsia Lips? Brazen Cheeks? Pick ONE.
4 Eyebrows are essential. Makeup artists are being paid on how they arch their client's brows.
5 Choose quality over quantity. Applies to both makeups and boys.

Event Reviews:

Happy Thoughts!

☺It's show and tell. Patrick gives theory and practice at Carla's pretty face.
☺They offer 10% discount on ALL items in this event.
☺Done in a small class type, so products are shown and passed all around for testing.

There's only one wishful thought for this session, find out what it is.

SHOW THEM SOME LOVE!

Show Your Kidneys Some Love!
According to Dr. Antonio Cayco,
Section Head of the Kidney Unit,
Makati Medical Center.

To peeps out there who have experienced the havoc a migraine can make, you'll agree with me if I shout: Pain Reliever please! And though we want to take extra care of our kidneys (which can wear out if we take too much meds), we will still pop that pill no matter what the cost is.

Point is. Migraine is there. You cannot take one pill and expect it to be gone. You have to change and adjust your lifestyle. AVOID the triggers at all cost. Some of the well-known triggers:

* Sunlight (aka silaw).
* Hunger (aka nalipasan ng gutom).
* Coffee & Chocolates to name a few.

On my case, Hunger Games is not my game. Haha. That's my trigger. However, if you're experiencing some attacks despite the precaution -- you might want to consider this. Instead of taking Arcoxia or Ponstan (Mefenamic Acid) or Advil (Ibuprofen) - take Biogesic (Paracetamol).

I know. For most of us, Paracetamol is just too weak and can't save the day. So here's what my doctor prescribes. If your body is accustomed to Mefenamic Acids or Ibuprofen, try this trick.

CMK BLOG LISTED IN TOPBLOGS' TOP 50 (FASHION & BEAUTY CATEGORY)

Top Blogs Philippines is the Philippines #1 Largest and Biggest
Blog Directory for over 5 years now.

I started installing this widget for over a month I think and I found myself on spot #724.
I find this site reliable knowing the top 3 fashion bloggers are but realistic:

Top 1 : Laureen Uy's (Amethyst in My Binondo Girl, she's a stylist and sis of Liz Uy)
Top 2 : Camille Co (Stylist of Pia Guanio, Mango It Girl)
Top 3 : Kryz Uy (Stylist of What A Girl Wants)

For a "commoner" like yours truly, a spot within Top 100 is just heaven.
When I refreshed my widget, I noticed that I am on Top 45!
Skip. Cartwheel. Jump. Twist!
Thankful and humbled. That's how I felt.

However, as a reality check, I occasionally talk to myself (in a discreet way) -
that rankings are but fleeting.
That it's not the end all and be all of our blog existence and
who knows I'll be back to lower ranks again (though I pray not).

Point is - for now, I am but thankful to God for making things possible
and to you my dear cyber friends for taking some time to read my
fashion, beauty and other creative juices in this blog. #thank you speech? :)

Have a great weekend. Thanks again! -CMK.

EB LIQUID EYELINER REVIEW

Right EB as in Ever Bilena. While most people (including me) are drooling over famous make-up lines, it's worth sharing that there are also potential goodies out there. Quality and Good-Buys are not mutually exclusive. You just have to have eyes that see and ears that hear.

With that, let me present to you: Ever Bilena's Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. For a meager amount of less than Php 200.00 you can take home this beauty. What's more to like?

* It's waterproof. While I like my previous eyeliner, when I perspire, smudges are seemingly obvious. Not a sight to behold! * The brush is just right. Not too soft, not too stiff either. Perfect for application (specially if you only have 10 minutes to spare). * It glows. It's not glittery but it glows. It gives your peepers a little drama.

I have one good tip. Promise! :)
TIP: If you're not used to swipe a one-time perfect-time eyeliner curves around your eyes,  you might find this interesting:

1. Apply an ample amount over your lids. Don't mind the smudges (just yet).

2. Get a cotton bud, soak it with a make-up remover, then remove unwanted lines, as desired.

Enjoy swiping (and make-up removing?) Take it easy! -CMK.

ETUDE HOUSE : LIP & EYE MAKEUP REMOVER REVIEW

Remember my previous Make Up Remover from Skin Food? Click HERE. I love it just the same, however, I almost faint when I saw how much the same product costs here in PH. As an alternative, I started looking for some equally nice make-up removers. Strolling down SM Mall of Asia, I noticed this gorgeous bottle.

It was only that day that I became aware there's an Etude House on SM Department Store at MOA. Now I know! Based on my conversation with the pleasant sales lady, they were there for quite some time. I noticed that the cost of their eyeliners and make-up removers are not far from how much they cost in Seoul. I love how they play with cute colors. Pinks, Oranges and Peaches are all around.

ONE FINE DAY CMK GOES TO - - LAYBARE

A random day you might call it.
I skipped that 15-minute exercise (click HERE).
Packed on a light breakfast then thought about...
What to do?! What to do?!

Then, a light bulb appeared.
I need to go to the nearest mall or else, I'll be a couch potato all day!
And that would be TOO much.

While strolling along SM, I noticed that my legs need some waxing.
As their tagline puts: WHEN YOU SEE HAIR, IT'S TIME TO LAY BARE! #bongga!

I've tried a number of waxing salons. All is fair so far.
But I've grown to love Laybare. Why is?

My Sexy Revolution Starts Now

One time, Mom and I had an interesting conversation.

Tin : (Panting from her exercise) I just wish I could lose all these unwanted flabs!
Mom : Maybe you should exercise?

Tin : Mom. Newsflash. I just DID. At this point, I'm recalling all the exercises
I did the past YEARS. With my puppy eyes and downed shoulders, I told her in a melodramatic tone "Mom, don't you recall all THESE Oplan Diet Regimen?"

Mind you, this blog is a living online diary of what these are (to name a few):

Eat Healthy (for details, click HERE)

Yoga (click HERE)
Small Exercises (click HERE)

Mom : You know what anak, there are some fats that are too difficult to burn. Look at your wings and arms. (grinning)
Tin : Mom, there are times that you're just so honest. (facepalm)

Mom : I know. That's why I'm Mommy. (laughing!)

***End of Discussion***

Having that well-trimmed body is for sure a challenge for woman of all ages. For me, it definitely is! To date, I'm more of maintaining my current weight (which is a lesser evil than gaining some!) But I'm not letting go of that mindset. One day, I can achieve that toned body I've always wanted.

Mom's right, there are fats that are difficult to melt. Wings (back of our shoulders), Arm flabs and of course, the ever-famous belly are one of the many parts (sob). For sure eating healthy and exercise works but don't deny it - we all need some help for these hard to vanish fats. Which brings me to my next point.

We're partners. 25 years from now you're gonna recruit me and 14 years after that the guy you didn't let me kill today at Coney Island, he escapes from prison and jumps back in the past and unleashes a full-scale invasion of Earth. We got about 19 hours to catch him and kill him so really, we need to go, right now."

Young Agent K: "Alright."

Agent J: "Hey man, hey, how old are you?"
Young Agent K: "Twenty-nine."

MAYBELLINE'S BABY LIP BALM (8 HOUR MOISTURE) REVIEW

Just recently, I've been having
a bad case of chapped lips (think : desert soil cracks). And while I am ready to ignore them, they seem to get painful by the day. :( I'm not a fan of lip balms as I think I could do better with real lipstick plus lip gloss combination but out of dire need, I looked for one to ease that cracked feeling on my lips.

At Watson's - I was overwhelmed by the world of lip balms. Aloe, SPF, Flavors, the works! And after all that shuffling and thinking, I've picked Maybelline's Baby Lips Lip Balm. The packaging got me curious and I think its features are quite a lot.

Happy Thoughts!
☺8 hour moisture promise.
☺ SPF 20 (highest lip balm SPF among the rack)
☺ Anti-Oxidant Berry
☺ For less than Php 100.00 (great catch)

Wishful Thoughts!
☻Cap was not that easy to twist and open.
☻You have to re-apply within 8-hours (but it depends how you define moisture).
☻I wish that the scent is more berry-liscous.

CMK Thinks : This chick provides the moisture coverage one needs. This is definitely a must-try crack buster. Considering the brand and its value for money, it's 2 pouts up!

Let's put it to test!
Note: Following lip swatches are taken and posted RAW (no wishy wash edits!)
This is what my lips look like BEFORE I applied the lip balm.

SPELL CHAPPY! You've been warned!

by a tinge of Cream Cheese and Teriyaki sauce.

FASHION ALERT : BALLET FLATS

This is one fashion trend that I'm happy about. Wearing heels is an effort for me and with the rising trend of these colorful footsies, I can be in style without compromising my comfort. Yey!

While this is still hot, what's there to think about when cuddling a pair?

♠ Use the flats to match your bag color. It's cute.
♠ Since they are made of lightweight materials, don't wear them on rainy season.
♠ Best bets are leggings, tapered pants and even doll dresses.
♠ Tip : If you're wearing heels all day, why not bring them along (to the rescue)
!

Presenting the Ballet Class with our favorite celebrities. They're all fabulous.
And where are these flat goodies in Manila?

FASHION ALERT : ROYAL BLUE AND BLACK

I've been eyeing this skirt for weeks but for some reasons, I find the tag to pricey for a skirt. Then Serendipity! After the Sunday mass, I scoured SM MOA while waiting for my 2 pm appointment. First store my eyes laid upon was Bayo. And then I reckoned that there was that 4 magic word. No, not love, it's SALE. Details, click HERE.

Was about to leave the store when I noticed this chick hanging. Checked the tag price but there's no magic tag. Asked the lovely sales lady if it's included and whadayaknow it was! Oh Lucky Day! I ran to the fitting room and it fits like glove. Happy Me!

You might ask, what's so giddy about a royal blue and black skirt? 1st, it can be worn 3 ways:

♣ Wear a lacy black blouse on top. Tuck it in and instant just-right girly ensemble.
♣ Feeling rowdy? Make way for that Gray shirt, let loose, tuck out and wear that Havaianas.
♣ Want a color burst? Pair this with a royal blue flats. Make sure the rest of your getup spells Neutral.

And if the first reason doesn't convince you. Maybe this will: Some royalty inspired us to wear the trend. Who's she? Clue : She married a prince!

FASHION ALERT : PETER PAN COLLARS

A Peter Pan collar is a flat, round-cornered clothing collar.
It is named after the collar of the costume worn in 1905 by
actress Maude Adams in her role as Peter Pan.
Since then, it has become a women's fashion item several times, and is particularly associated with little girls' dresses. [from Wikipedia]
.

Do me a favor by not asking me how come peter pan's collar is not round. =) I think we could welcome a spunk in the way we see collars. Be it on a dress or blouse. So - joining the bandwagon? Read on to some tips.

* Collars, in general, has solid colors in it.
* Contrasting colors are highlighted when thinking of collar color + the rest of the dress.
* Since it's only collar we are styling, we can wear it with sleeveless, long sleeves etc.
* Notice this, models are not into bulk accessories when wearing the style.

Style inspirations? Help yourselves.

SGV MINI REUNION

Presenting my friends from then till now.
Kate (Green), Gen (Brown), Glends (Blue Top), Karen (with us in spirit, hihi).

SGV Days. Those were the days. Haha. We were laughing our hearts out to our timeless bloopers when we were still working at SGV. Seriously, a big chunk of the way we do work came from SGV's tagline : Quality in Everything We Do. #infairness.

What we did that one fine laugh-trip day? Ate at Oodys. For some reasons I'm loving Thai Foods. Try their Pad Thai (for review, click HERE). Since Gen lost 20+ lbs. (envy-mode) she has the license to munch all yummy sweets she wants. Nag lose din naman kami ni Glends (mga 1.5 lbS) Haha. Halo-halo. Pad Thai. Spring Rolls. Unlimited Lemon Grass. Thai Iced Tea.

Romper Fever hits the celeb runway. What's with it? Let us count the ways.

Perfect summer ensemble, no doubt.
A statement by itself. No excess-sories needed.
Brightens one's get-up.

Only thing I don't like about rompers is when one has to pee. Yes. Right.
You have to take it off all the way from top.
Gee. Anyways, fashion doesn't always spell convenience, let's face it.
Rompers on your closet? Betcha!

HAPPY MOM'S DAY 2012

Honestly, I can't express in words how thankful I am to God that He gave me a wonderful mom. Though I tried to compose some series of words - I just can't. Totally speechless! With that - it would be best to borrow some sweet words from the people who can convey something that we all feel for our mothers - LOVE.

Plantation Bay - Cebu
No language can express the power,
and beauty, and heroism,
and majesty of a mother's love.
It shrinks not where man cowers,
and grows stronger where man faints,
and over wastes of worldly fortunes
sends the radiance of its
quenchless fidelity like a star.  ~Edwin Hubbell Chapin

Facial and Pore Strips Time!
Who ran to help me when I fell,And would some pretty story tell,
Or kiss the place to make it well?
My mother.
~Ann Taylor

Tita, Me and Mommy @ Home for the Angels Orphanage
No one in the world can take the place of your mother.
Right or wrong, from her viewpoint you are always right.
She may scold you for little things,
but never for the big ones (she hugs you instead).

FASHION ALERT : POLKA DOTS

Nope - the prints not only 'in' for the New Year but all year round. This has been a fashion staple ever since 1920's and who can blame the femmes? It just puts that much needed spunk. Friendly reminders before you connect the dots:

* Make sure that you wear a polka dot wardrobe (ONE PIECE AT A TIME).
* To break the monotony, best to wear a belt (in one solid color).
* In case it's too breezy, pair it with a neutral colored blazer.

BAYO'S ANNIVERSARY SALE

Talk about good news! Meet one of my favorite local brands of all time -- Bayo. Their style is so fresh and acceptably stylish. Translated: You can wear them almost anywhere, everyday! Since high school days, I find myself drooling on their threads. And today is just the same. Whenever I'm in a mall, I see to it that I drop by to my happy place. To buy or to spy (for inspirations).

Most malls have BAYO. Again, let me repeat ... it's a local brand. They also have a sister brand - Missy. Very nice dress and tops indeed. If you happen to have a Belle de Jeur Planner, we have a 10% discount coupon (can't be used in conjunction with any promo). On to the good news:

10% Discount on All Regular (think: New Arrivals) items. Beat That!

Though Don't Forget the Time Frame: May 1st to 15th.

SUCH A PERFECT SUMMER SONG

Last week, I was looking at a Youtube make-up tutorial and since the girl speaks another language, she opted to do the whole stuff with a background music. Then - this song blew me away.

It's really a relaxing, summery tune. Enjoy! -CMK.

PS: After Effect: I ended up downloading her entire album. Sweet!

Meet Olivia Ong - a Singaporean Singer; born 2 October 1985. She sings mostly in English but developed her career singing in English and Japanese (from Wikipedia).

AIS KACANG CRAZE @ CHICKEN RICE SHOP

Summer Time Everyone. Humidity and Heat is all around.
But - instead of complaining about the weather and all, why not do something about it?
Good News! Ice Craze Malaysian Style is here.
AIS KACANG (ICED KA-CHANG) is a must-try!

Accidentally, bumped into this "cool" thing during one Sunday lunch.
I ordered their flagship dessert (Ais Kacang) since I love Red Beans. Weird? I know. :)

Reasons to love?
- a filling merienda (their Regular serving is actually a lot).
- a cool, cool, cool in the mouth concoction.
- you can ask them to decrease the sugar to 50%.
- something new and definitely a MUST TRY.
- for less than Php 100.00 (Regulars), go treat yourself and beat the heat!

Though I haven't tried the other two, I am convinced they are equally yummy. Feast your eyes on these heavenly desserts.

Can you see the milk, thin ice and mongo (red beans?)

Now you ask... where to find the Chicken Rice Shop??
