THE BIZU EXPERIENCE

http://www.bizupatisserie.com/

There are few things in life worth tasting - and when speaking of cakes you are missing half of your life if you haven't tasted BIZU patisserie yet! Why you should try it? Let me count the ways:

1. Catchy Names. Yoga, Jolie, Naomi, Samba. All superb.
2. Ambiance. Have you seen their Greenbelt place? Date-worthy. *blush*
3. Macaroons. I admit - I haven't tried this one. But I will. Look at their colors and you'll sigh with relief that these munchies are edible.

Alright - fair is fair. You might want to consider the price before trying. Most good things come with a price tag. Quality cakes may mean a dent on your wallet. To give you an idea,  a cake may cost about Php 300.00. Which brings me to my point. You have the option to avail your Belle de Jour discount coupon in Bizu!

My favorite cake is her. Meet Jolie. Inspired, I think, by Angelina Jolie! It's sugarless, flourless with Macadamia twist. Super worth it! So worth it that after eating, I can't help to flash a ten-tooth smile. Bwahaha! >:) -CMK.

Whatta great way to cap a shopping day.

DIGI-PERM FRIENDLY GOODIES

Ban Combing. (esp. when the permed area is dry). Tip from a beautician in Beauty Brick Salon: After washing your hair, towel Dry. Then Twist & Scrunch. No, not the dance moves.
This will ensure that curls will last as long as possible. It's okay to twirl your hair or just let it dry if you don't have the luxury of time. This is the reason why I think having a permed hair is a low-maintenance option.

Coco-comeback. Lavish them with Oil. Since perming involves chemicals, it's time to give back to your hair's stripped natural essence. There are countless over-the-counter hair oils. Make sure your crowning glory gets their share of oil hydration.

Combat Dullness. Here's your armor - Hair Mask. This is a tip from a Benchfix Hair Specialist. I picked Loreal Smooth-Intense Mask since this is my tried and tested product. A bit pricey compared to its competitors but my hair-fall was lessened, so it's here to stay with my weekly regimen.

Spray Some Volume. My all time favorite. It smells good. Lightweight on hair. It really lives up to its name. Curl. Defining. Mousse. Though, I don't recommend on using it everyday. Make sure your tresses get some time-off with any hint of chemicals.

Gotta Love Nature. This is interesting. Repeat after me.

Garbage-In. Garbage-Out.
And so.
Freshies In. Freshies Out.
Needless to say, we have to stay close to the freshest commodity available. Try these products. Lemon Grass & Mango Butter Conditioner. Mandarin / Peppermint Variety. Mother Nature - we are definitely coming back to your arms!

Enjoy your Twist and Curls Ladies. And, no - don't dance :-). -CMK.

NOW, BACK TO BASICS!

Girls will always be girls. They'll have lots of clothes in their closets. Yet, there are times that we have to separate timeless classics from fleeting trends. Say, when you're out on a business trip and there's a constraint [think: baggage allowance], we need to stick with threads like these 8 masterpieces!

1. Red Blazer. Or any other blazer for that matter. Since Red / Tangerine are known to be the 2012 color - this will spice up any basic palette wardrobe.

2. White Long Sleeves. Pair it with slacks or jeans and your out that door.

3. Skinny Jeans. Comes handy specially on Casual Fridays. Pair it with Pumps for that va-va-voom feel. Pair it with flats if you're on to some serious shopping spree.

4. Sundress. Whether maxi dress or little sundress. Summer is more fun with pops of colors.

5. Pumps. This item will spruce up even the most basic apparel. You'll never go wrong with black. Tip: When investing with classic items, make it a point to buy good quality ones. Either that, or your feet will do the talking!

6. Slacks. This is perfect specially for day-to-night agenda. Pair this number with bling-blings and colors. This works wonder.

7. Little Black Dress. Of course. From a corporate presentation. To a dinner date. Or just a bonding time with your girls, this is a sure-fire hit.

8. Flats. Visit blogs years ago and notice that flats are not considered as a fashion staple but believe me things change! They are definitely making a comeback on fashion stage. Tip: If you're not used into wearing high heels for hours, make sure to stack these goodies. They are to the rescue! Enjoy Shopping! -CMK.

GOING BANANA-licious at Contis

One lazy Sunday afternoon, Mom and I happened to drop by at Contis Greenbelt to catch up with each other's stories. I really had this craving since last week. I un-friended the bannoffee stuffs due to some not-so-good experiences with most bakeshops. Yet, when I got to taste Contis' version of Banana-licious pie - I had a change of (♥) !

Combined with fruity, cold and creamy palate, the pie itself is heaven! Banana's were not soaked into sugar so that's good. The consistency is just right. It has the cashew and tofee medley. I can say she's a sister of their flagship cake, Mango Bravo.
Now, let's talk coffee. Contis brews one of most tasty coffee there is. They are bitter-sweet. Just the way coffee addicts love. They offer Splenda. And best part is - it's refillable. Just tell to the waiter that you're ready to have the 'complimentary refill'. How politically correct is that? ;) Should you have that itch to indulge because it's your cheat day, set foot on their branches in Alabang Town Center, Greenbelt or Serendra. -CMK.

MEET JOE BLACKIE

Ergonomics is defined as the science of fitting the work to the user instead of forcing the user to fit the work.

This is how about.com describe it. I didn't care so much about this thing not until after some months of combating with my unreasonable shoulder pains. I can't point my finger at it but after every work shift, it seems that there's that electrifying tingling shock creeping from my back to neck. Funny thing is - I don't experience it on weekends. Then I ruled it out! This has something to do with the way my laptop and posture was on my entire 5-day workweek.

You see, when using laptop - you tend to lower your head down to see the whole screen. This may cause neck and shoulder pains in the long run. Hence, the term ergonomics entered my mind.

Solution? Buy a monitor that is designed to have an eye-level contact so you won't have to tilt your head. You can buy most monitors within any price range. It depends on the quality and brand. I picked Acer because of the following:

* I can adjust the brightness / contrast (other brands don't have this feature).
* Price is fair enough (this costs below Php 5k, since it was on sale).
* It is LED not LCD. LED (they say) is a more advanced hybrid of screen.

Anyways, going back - it's time for you to meet Blackie [with Pinky on the side].. Drum rolls please... -CMK.

They must be fit for it.
They must not do too much of it.
And they must have a sense of success in it." --John Ruskin {This one rocks!)

ESPADRILLES And España

Colorfuls!
It is a food for thought for me to know that Espadrilles originally came from Spain (source: Wikipedia).  Espadrilles were originally made in France and Spain. The term espadrille is French. “Espardenyes” is Spanish. Espadrilles were produced in the Catalonia region of Spain, and also in the mid-Pyrenees in France.

The trigger? My cousin from Barcelona, Spain sent me one as a gift (Thanks Ate Chereel).

Before, I am not a big fan of them for no reason. But upon opening the package, I've grown to love them so quickly. They are much comfortable as I thought and light-weight too. Specially that Summer Season is fast approaching - this pair of footsies can be a wardrobe staple.

Bursting with fun and color: they may not be boots - but they are definitely made for walking too! - CMK.

DIGI-PERM HATS OFF - GOODBYE SIMON KIM

Me and my friends were scouting for a trusted digiperm salon within Makati. Since my first digiperm saga was splendid, I told them candidly that we should go to Simon Kim. Though he has some tough-love touch (aka mabigat ang kamay), me and my friend's first digiperm experience was by far good and affordable. We have been hearing rumors that their salon in Makati has been closed.
With Mr. Simon Kim (+)
Yet, it was only now that I verified that yes, the Salon in Makati has been closed since September and to my surprise, Simon Kim was dead.

Flashback March 2011, I recall some nice things that transpired during our first and last meeting. When doing my hair he shared that he has been losing weight (thanks to the gym and some tea), he told me that he has been having heart problems but on his way to recovery.

Then one of his assistants jokingly teased him "eh Sir, ang lakas mo nga manigarilyo eh" [you're smoking a lot]. He just shrugged it off and told me how he want to lose a few more weight.

He also shared to me that though living in Manila for quite some time, but he can't speak a straight Tagalog. That he also has 2 daughters and he's kinda protective of them. When we are done, he picked his camera and asked that we take pictures together. He does that to all of his clients. Some kind of badge for him.

Thank you Mr. Simon Kim! You will be missed by so many bellas out there.
